Although it was not the winning photograph in the Country Magazine’s 2017 Country Life Photo Contest, it was a runner-up and won the “People Category.” Fortunately for me I entered another one of my cowboy photos and that photo was the grand prize winner.

This runner-up photo was of a young tyke wearing a cowboy hat and enjoying a sip of milk while his family branded cattle on a ranch near Pray, Montana. I truly enjoyed this photo and was certain it would win, but I guess the judges liked my other photo better.

It was the second year in a row I won Country Magazine’s photo contest. I will have to be super busy this year making more cowboy photos if I have a chance to win again next year and make it three years in a row.
