Late this autumn I will have the pleasure of trailing the herd with a family of cowboys and ranchers near Chinook, Montana as they drive their cattle from the Canadian border south to the winter pastures. Moving herds of cattle long distances was commonplace in the late 1800s when millions of animals were herded from Texas to feed lots, stockyards, and grazing grounds in the north and east. Now days, however, they are much more rare.

Having the opportunity for this cowboy photographer to tag along will be quite a treat. I look forward to making many fine photos and sharing them with everyone. 2016 will be a very important year, too, because I plan to make a book of my best cowboy photos (and cowgirl photos, too). Stay tuned.
