There’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes when an ad agency makes an ad. And in the process of dreaming up a winning ad campaign there are often a lot of experiments. These ads above are some of the mock-ups an ad agency made using my photographs. The mock-ups were for Cavender’s, a family-owned western wear retail chain based in Tyler, Texas. To the unfamiliar they have more than 70 stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, and New Mexico where they sell traditional and modern western hats, boots, clothing and home décor.
Several ad agencies have licensed my photos of cowboys and cowgirls for use in advertisements, but seldom do I have a chance to peek behind the curtain to see the thought process used to make an ad. Just such information is helpful as I make more cowboys photos and cowgirl photos, which will hopefully be used in future farm and ranch advertising.
