They say time moves faster the older you get. I can personally vouch for the authenticity and accuracy of that statement. And there was even more evidence of that fact this week when I was asked to photograph a senior class portrait.

I don’t normally do senior class portraits. It’s just not my cup of tea. If someone is in a pinch or if it is a friend then I will oblige. That happens more than you would expect in places like Blaine County, Montana where professional photographers can be many, many miles away.

In this instance I was asked by a friend to take some photos of their son Garrison. The Mitchell’s were the first family to host me when I wanted to make cowboy and cowgirl photos way back in 2010. One of the first cowboy photos I made (and one of my first cowboy photos to appear on a magazine cover) was a photo I made of Garrison as a young lad and his father. The one above on the left. And five-and-a-half years later I was making his senior class portrait; one of which is above on the right.

Talk about making a guy feel old.

Garrison is in his final year at Chinook High School. It’s the home of the fighting Sugarbeeters. Then he will leave for college.
