If you know me at all, you know I am a sucker for old advertisements such as this. It is a beautiful magazine advertisement, which was produced by Container Corporation of America (CCA).

Under the leadership of industrialist, philanthropist, and long-time executive Walter Paepcke, CCA was a patron of graphic arts and design. The company amassed an outstanding collection of art works, which eventually found their way to the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C. They also included those works of art into their advertisements. This particular advertisement features a painting by artist Edward McKnight Kauffer, who was born in Great Falls, Montana. He went on to become famous for his avant garde graphic design and poster art. One look at the painting in this ad below and you can see why.
